There are many types of movies out there. But if you are a car lover like us, you'd appreciate to watch movies about cars.

Movies about cars have been around for as long as the modern cinema was invented. And some of it is celebrated and uplifted into iconic status. For car movie buffs, there's nothing more thrilling than watching movies with high-speed action and, of course, beautiful cars to boot. And movies about cars can come in different genres, from action to even horror. And out of all the movies for car fans out there, here are our top five best movies about cars. Who knows, your favorite could be on this list. So, read on. Disclaimer: The list comes in no particular order.

Baby Driver

This movie, directed by Edgar Wright, is not just one of the best car movies, but it's also a movie that has one of the best soundtracks. And why wouldn't it, the movie revolves around a getaway driver (awesomely played by Ansel Elgort) who is obsessed with living the "thug life" with a carefully curated soundtrack playing in the background. Aside from the soundtrack, Baby Driver is an excellent movie with outstanding cinematography and editing, catchy dialogues, and a hell-bending plot. Plus, you can get to sing along with the tunes, too, with songs like Danger Mouse's "Chase Me" and Blur's "Intermission".

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

You're probably sitting there, wondering out of all the movies in the FF franchise, Tokyo Drift? Yes, we hear you, but hear us out. We know that the third Fast and Furious movie isn't the best. You can bet many movie buffs out there think it's the worst of the lot. And we could've easily picked Furious 7 just because. But what made us choose Tokyo Drift is the fact that it has the most car culture impact out of all the Fast and Furious movies. Tokyo Drift introduces to us the strange world of Japanese car culture, and that includes drifting. And that's why we included Tokyo Drift in this list of best car movies.

Mad Max: Fury Road

With Mad Max: Fury Road (or even the original Mad Max), post-apocalyptic Earth never looked so cool. With its unique setting, gravity-defying stunts, and breathtaking car chase scenes, no wonder the second installment after a 30-year hiatus was a big hit. And the success happened even with some obstacles along the way - delays, disagreements, lawsuits, what have you. If you haven't watched it, please do. It's considered to be one of the best movies of 2010s. And also, Charlize Theron. She's enough reason to watch it.

Drive

Nicolas Winding Refn's "Drive" is yet another getaway driver movie. But both are not as dragging as the other ones that have the same plot. Ryan Gosling delivered an excellent performance of the movie, making him the driver of the entire story. But of course, with us car buffs, it's all about the automobiles. The movie starts with a great car chase scene, which is perhaps the most memorable scene of the entire movie. But the car actions didn't stop there. We won't spoil you with more details, but you've got to check Drive out.

Rush

And the last on this list of movies about cars is a 2013 biopic starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Daniel Brühl. Respectively, they played James Hunt and Niki Lauda. The movie gives us a free pass on how competitive Formula 1 Racing is. On the outside, the Grand Prix life is very glamorous - fast cars, champagne popping, Pit girls, what have you. But on the inside, it's all about the immense pressure to win, frequent berating, and all-out battle of egos. And this movie captured it entirely by giving it a very documentary feel, making us watchers look like outsiders who are just peeping in their world.
