It would be awesome nice if some of us - if not most - live our day-to-day lives like Fast and the Furious. But the reality is not all of us can live in the fast lane like the ones in the franchise. For obvious reasons, we have to keep everything on the safe side - even when we drive every day to work or school. If you're looking for a mid-size car that has a high safety rating, you've come to the right place. Here is a list of the safest sedans for 2019.

Volkswagen GTI

The 2019 Volkswagen GTI is not just one of the safest sedans of 2019; it's also one of the most compact. This hatchback got its five-star rating for safety due to its performance in its frontal crash and rollover tests. The tests also made notes on its design that provides an overlap in the front passenger seat for a more comfortable ride. Though it's on the pretty expensive side - around $28,000 for a new one - you can never go wrong with its other safety features such as rain-sensing windshield wipers, and blind-spot monitors, among others.

Kia Optima

When it comes to Kia Optima and ultimate safety, there is no contest. The 2019 model earned the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) recognition as the safest sedan of 2019. It also garnered a proper rating out of all the tests the said institute provided. The 2019 Kia Optima has safety features such as lane departure, surround-view camera systems, and forward-collision warning.

Mazda6

The 2019 Mazda6 made it to this list of safest sedans for 2019 because of its specific headlight options. Apart from that, it also has an adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, and a rear-cross traffic alert. Not only is it safe, but the Mazda6 also sports a stylish design. Who says that form and function don't mix well together? And while we're at it, it's also a very comfortable car to have. Other features include a 25-liter four-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Subaru Legacy

The 2019 model for this unit has three highlighted main safety features. First is the rearview camera with the EyeSight Package. Second, the high-beam assist feature. And lastly, its reverse automatic braking. When it comes to reliability, the 2019 Subaru Legacy is on the average. But at least its repair costs are not as expensive as some other models out in the market today.

Chevrolet Cruze

The 2019 Chevrolet Cruze is not just one of the safest sedans out there, but it's also one of the cheapest. At $18,000 for a brand new one, you can already drive around town safe and secure. It comes in two safety features options - Driver Confidence and Driver Confidence II. The 2nd one is only available for the Premier trim. Features that come in both packages include front pedestrian braking, blind-spot alerts, and lane-keeping. What it only lacks, though, is the adaptive cruise control.
